Yatranj is the most widespread electric typewriter of former USSR that was produced from 1975 up to 1995. From it’s construction standpoint that’s a licensed copy of a German Olympia SGE that was produced at a Kirovohrad typewriter factory in the Ukrainian SSR.
This typewriter was produced with a variety of platen lengths and sometimes featured a decimal tabulator that allowed to write different register numbers without backspacing the carriage. Some models had a function to get a paper sheet inside the machine with a flip of a handle that allowed to speed up the work process if several sheets of paper had to be written in a short amount of time.
Yatranj typewriters were produced in a variety of colors- white, gray, dark gray, dark green and blue. Also this typewriter was one of rare typewriter models that were produced in languages different than Russian right from the factory- Latvian, Ukranian, Kazakh, Lithuanian and other languages were available.
This typewriter was found at the former Riga’s “Teika” furniture factory.
